In order to make a medical practice more welcoming, it is necessary to find the right compromise between the standards of professionalism and accessibility, and one’s own aesthetic taste.
In fact, the fundamental goal in the choice of furniture and accessories, is the creation of an environment with an aspect that inspires a sense of cleanliness, safety and trust without sacrificing style and design.

This is because, on the one hand, patients must feel as comfortable as possible, on the other hand, the doctor, who will spend most of his time in his office, must identify  the salient features of his personality.

The color of the walls

Color has a great communicative power.

For this, using the appropriate tones for the walls, helps to convey the right message since the entrance into the medical office.

For example, it is advisable to use a white background that expresses order and cleanliness, and references in neutral shades of blue that inspires confidence, green that expresses tranquility or even in the warmer shades of beige that makes the atmosphere more hospitable.

If it is a pediatric study, you can leave more room for imagination, painting the walls with pastel colors, but never too bright.

The lighting

Having plenty of natural light is one of the main ingredients to create a pleasant and welcoming environment.

For this reason, if there are not enough windows or exposure is not favorable, it is essential to choose a suitable artificial lighting.

First, it is necessary to illuminate the rooms uniformly, but not excessively, to make them calm and restful.

In most cases, the ideal solution is a neutral light lighting system.

In fact, even if the warm light creates an atmosphere of calm and relaxation, it makes the atmosphere too intimate, and is not suitable for a medical practice.

On the other hand, too cold light, despite being associated with the image of a sanitized and aseptic environment, conveys a "hospital" feeling, communicating a sense of urgency and discomfort.

So, it is necessary to choose a light with a hue between neutral white and cold white, with a temperature of 4800-5200 Kelvin, depending on the brightness of the rooms.

Also in this case, in a pediatric study, the installation of colored lights will help the small patients to face with greater serenity the waiting, the examination or the possible therapy.

The furniture and accessories

In most cases, the waiting room is the place where patients in the medical office spend most of their time.

It has an important function: to ensure that waiting for the examination, for oneself or for one’s loved one, is as pleasant as possible.

Indeed, a positive experience in the waiting room can improve the perceived value of the overall services offered by the medical practice.

For this you need to choose armchairs or sofas with a comfortable seat, easy to clean and communicate a sense of hygiene and cleanliness.

To these elements it is advisable to combine tables of the same style on which to display magazines, newspapers or information material on the activities of the study.
